National Institute of Design Bangalore was founded in the year 2006 as a part of the extension plan of the NID Ahmedabad campus. National Institute of Design Bangalore is a pioneer in Industrial Design Education and is known for its pursuit of design excellence to make India better. The institute currently offers 5 master's programmes of 2.5 years duration each. It is located in Yeshvanthpur, a sub-locality of the northwestern part of Bengaluru city in the state of Karnataka.

NID Bangalore campus has a compact set-up on a small 2-acre land site. The institute offers the best placements among other design institutes. The faculty at the institute is highly professional and experienced in the field of design and research. Courses & Admission 2024 at NID Bangalore

Initially, the National Institute of Design Bangalore offered master courses only in 2 specialisations namely Design for Digital Experience and Design for Retail Experience. At present, NID Bangalore offers M.Des. programmes in the disciplines of Design for Retail Experience, Digital Game Design, Information Design, Interaction Design, and Universal Design. The interested candidates who want to apply for these courses must appear in the NID DAT entrance exam to become eligible. After qualifying the exam, the candidates can fill out the application form online and pay the application fee. The candidates that get shortlisted for the NID Bangalore courses, get a call from the institute.

The NID Bangalore admission process involves an entrance exam followed by a studio test and an interview. Candidates can apply online through the official website of the National Institute of Design Bangalore admission in the M.Des. course. The applications are available on the website from the month of October. A merit list is prepared after the results of DAT prelims for each category. Based on the merit list, candidates are called for DAT Mains. Thereafter, based on the results of DAT Mains, candidates are shortlisted for each discipline offered by NID Bangalore.

NID Bangalore eligibility Criteria 2024

For admission in M.Des. programmes in NID Bangalore, the candidates should have completed a bachelor’s degree course from a recognised college/university. The candidates who have done a full-time diploma in fine arts/design/applied arts/architecture are also eligible to apply for the course.
The candidate should not be more than 30 years of age at the time of application.
Candidates should clear the entrance exam i.e. NID DAT.
The entrance exam will be conducted in two steps for NID Bangalore admission to M.Des. course. Candidates have to clear the NID DAT prelims exams first and then appear for the NID DAT Mains exam.

Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) degree at the National Institute of Design (NID), Bangalore, are as follows: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 education from a recognized board with any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts). Additionally, they must be below the age of 20 years (relaxable by three years for candidates from reserved categories) as of June 1st of the admission year. NID conducts an entrance examination, the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), which is mandatory for all applicants. Shortlisted candidates from the DAT are further invited for a studio test and personal interview. The final selection is based on the combined performance in all these stages.

Eligibility
To pursue the M.Des. (Master of Design) degree at the National Institute of Design, Bangalore, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria. Applicants should have completed a Bachelor's degree in Design, Engineering, Architecture, or any relevant field from a recognized university or institute. They should possess a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA. The NID Bangalore campus comprises fully air-conditioned classrooms and labs for the convenience of students. There is a Universal Design Lab where students can innovate or design and learn using the modern technology available at the lab. The faculty at NID Bangalore keeps an eye on every student’s performance and takes the action as and when required. The campus is ragging-free. Also, counselling for students who are disturbed by some unwanted events in life or are depressed by some incidents is provided by the Institute on an appointment basis. A guest room facility is present at the NID Bangalore campus for the parents of students studying on the campus. Medical facilities are also provided inside the campus of the institute.
